Olio Publication

During my second year of university, I had a module titled “Olio”, where we as a class were tasked with creating a publication from scratch. I was a production designer for this project, which was developed into a book titled “Home Sweet Home”, a collection of international artists interpretations of the word “home”.

For my Olio illustration, I wanted to do something relating to my own experiences of mental health and depression. I used softer colours and took inspiration from my childhood bedroom, to tie the lightheartedness I felt as a child with the struggle I feel as an adult.

For this page, I wanted to express that I felt failed by public healthcare, and how I continued to struggle despite reaching out for help numerous times. I also illustrated Spotify, playing my chosen song for the Olio playlist (I chose “Last Resort” by Papa Roach!)

We featured self portraits of the students that created “Home Sweet Home”, this is mine!

A call for entries poster I designed for the publication!
